   New Municipal Council 2008 - Victoria County

1) Pictured above is a photo of the new Municipal Council for Victoria County taken by Joan MacInnes.
    Back row - Deputy Warden, Fraser Patterson, District 5, Warden, Bruce Morrison, District 3,
    Keith MacCuspic, Councillor for District 2,  Robert MacLellan, Councillor for District 8,
    front row - Paul MacNeil, Councillor for District 1, David Donovan, Councillor for District 7, and
    Larry Dauphinee, Councillor for District 6. District 4 is currently vacant. A bye election will be called in early
    2009 for District 4.   

2) Council minutes for September 8, 2008 and November 14th, 2008 have been posted to the website.  

3)  The November 2008 newsletter of the Heritage & Archives Dept. is now available.

4) Phase 3 of Victoria County's Broadband Project Update (November 28th) - Work continues at
    MacLeod's Point. Tree cutting is now finished and road is being constructed. MacLeod's Site pole will be
    installed shortly. Cape North site is near completion bringing the Big Intervale one step closer.
    Engineering work & land acquistion continues at West Tarbot and Big Intervale sites and Seaside is hopeful
    that these two sites might be ready by end of December as well. There are six sites left to be open for
    customers and phase three of construction will be completed. Updates will be posted weekly by the
    Victoria County Recreation & Tourism Dept. on County's Broadband website - "Connected Communities" .


5)  The following communities can now have access to Seaside Wireless High speed Internet - Aspy Bay,
    Black Head, Capstick, Smelt Brook, White Point, and South Harbour.  Seaside Customer service reps will be
    calling people in these areas to let you know the service is available.

     Please Note:
When service becomes available, individual assessments will be required at each residence to
    ensure the signal is of suitable strength to complete an installation on your property.


6)   Victoria County's Tourism Resource Centre  website has been updated November 28th with 40 plus new
     articles in Tourism News  including NB Focus in Tourism Newsletter, CTC's latest air scan, Joggins Fossils
     Cliffs NS makes the UNSECO List, International Travel account & Characteristics of International Travellers,
     Effective online marketing in a recession, Why blogging matters to tourism, podcast with Chris Brogan,
     Canada E-Connect Conference, 4th Annual Online Revealed Canada Conference. Two new posts on the
     Victoria County Tourism blog - Shaping the Future - TIANS Tourism Summit 2008, Tourism Research # 3 -
     Greening your Business -Toolkit for Tourism Operators. Other recent posts -Travel Blogs, facebook and
