Cape Breton Highlands National Park

Cape Breton Highlands National Park of Canada - where the mountains meet the sea - is a spectacular portion of the largest remaining wild area of the Maritime Acadian Highlands. Protecting part of the northern Cape Breton Highlands ecosystem, it is a spectacular portion of the largest remaining wild area of the Maritime Acadian Highlands. Dominated by high plateaus deeply cut by river canyons, it is forested by three distinct land regions - Acadian, Boreal and Taiga. This national park is part of a family of National Parks that protect significant Canadian landscapes for all time.

The Park stretches across the northern tip of Cape Breton Island between the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Atlantic Ocean.

Entrances to the Park are located on the Cabot Trail north of Cheticamp (west side of the Island) and at Ingonish Beach (east).

The world famous Cabot Trail, one of Nova Scotia’s scenic travelways, loops across northern Cape Breton running for almost 300 km. Approximately one third (106km) is located within the Park boundaries.
