The aim of this project is to restore the Old Town Hall in Glace Bay to its former glory and establish a fully operational heritage museum. The project has a time line with the 100th birthday since Glace Bay was established as a town in 1901. The Society is trying to re-establish a link to the past with the only remaining building that is almost as old as the town itself, to promote and develop an awareness of the town's history and identity with the community, and as a significant landmark in Cape Breton.

Restoration of the building will be done, keeping in mind both its architectural value and its historic value as the centre of community activity in Glace Bay throughout the century and into the future. Externally, the building will be repaired and restored so that it will once again be a source of civic pride. The restored building will be a distinctive display in itself, its architecture a symbol of strength and durability, existing as a monument to the development and strife within the mining and fishing community. Internally, it will be restored to capture the atmosphere of earlier decades. The museum will house an archive of documents and memorabilia and contain displays depicting our local history.
