Les Trois Pignons

Les Trois Pignons, a cultural and information centre is a reflection of the desire in the community to not only preserve the past but to move into the future with Acadian culture intact.

Dr. Elizabeth LeFort, "Canada's artist in wool", created more than 300 tapestries, some of which are in the Vatican, the White House, Buckingham Palace and the Canadian Museum of Civilization; the gallery's collection includes The Canadian Centennial and The Presidential History. This rug hooking is unique to Chéticamp and Elizabeth LeFort's masterpieces, as well as those of other local artists, are displayed in the gallery.

Next to the gallery is a museum featuring antiques donated by the late Marguerite Gallant. Her wish was to have her life long findings displayed for the benefit of future generations. The museum enables visitors to learn more about our ancestors' lifestyles, as well as the history of the founding of the village.

There is also a history and genealogy research centre which contains published and unpublished records of the area's past, including parish registers, photographs and gravestone transcriptions that includes much documentation of the area's Acadian ancestors and general history of the Acadian from Chéticamp to the Margarees.

Operated by: La Société Saint-Pierre
